A post from Quinn to his Grandparents!

Well Hi there!
I asked mommy to write this post for me...
I also asked her to make this banner for my Grandparents:
Grandma Bea and Grandpa Phil and
Grandma Jan and Grandpa Stan

Because I love all of them so very, very much and I wanted to tell them: HAPPY GRANDPARENT'S DAY! I am one lucky boy to have you all in my life!

{Quinn also asked me to send a shout out to G&G Johannes who are embarking on their retirement roadtrip that will keep them away from home until sometime in October! We're all gonna miss you and can't wait to see you when you get home! Have a GREAT trip!}

Love, Quinn

Day at the Minnesota Science Museum - 9/11/10

Quinn's first trip of many to the Minnesota Science Museum in Saint Paul.

More interested in Mama's necklace than anything else!

Baby Calahan getting weighed!

We went with friends, Matt and Amanda Pudell. Their adorable little son, Cal, is two months younger than Quinn. They are already quite curious of one another and it's fun to watch them interact!

I think all three of us enjoyed being outside on the beautiful day rather than inside! We went to the exhibit, The Dead Sea Scrolls and weren't all that impressed! Oh well...we had fun trying something new and Quinn quite enjoyed "people watching"!

VERY windy as you can tell!

Look at the awesome view of the river below!

I wouldn't trade these two for the world!

Checking out the pretty flowers.

Our second anniversary: September 6, 2010

For our 2nd anniversary we left Quinn with my parents on Friday afternoon, and Steve and I
headed up north to his folk's cabin near Grand Rapids, Minnesota. We had a great couple of days! We were able to go to a rinky-dink little bar on Friday night for bar food and a couple of beers. Saturday we made a yummy breakfast at home, enjoyed a three-mile walk in the brisk early afternoon weather {it was in the 50s and 60s!} with Tuck and then enjoyed taking a nap... we didn't have to worry about Quinn starting to fuss and needing something because it was just the two of us! It was wonderful. Jan and Stan also left a bottle of wine for us, and we enjoyed it while sitting around the bonfire on Saturday night after a dinner out.
It was a wonderful way to celebrate two years of marriage! Thanks to both sets of parents for allowing this weekend away to happen! Steve, I love you SO much and I'm so glad you are my partner through this wonderful life of ours!

Lunch at Mom and Dad's to celebrate: two graduations and a birthday!

Quinn dropping by to say "hi" to uncle Pete!

Quinn with Jack {my parent's dog}.

My grandpa Shepard

Four generations:
Quinn, Gretchen, Grandma Shepard and Mom

On Sunday, August 29th we headed over to my parent's to have lunch. It was in celebration of two graduations -- I recently graduated with my Paralegal Associate Degree from Inver Hills Community College, and my sister Mandy just graduated from Rasmussen College. It was also my dad's birthday on the 26th of this month -- so we celebrated them all!
We were surprised to see a white car in my parent's driveway when we pulled up, and weren't sure who was joining us. We were happily surprised to see my grandma and grandpa Shepard were there to spend the day with us! It was a great day. We had a nice lunch, went outdoors to play washers and then relaxed under a shady tree with a nice cool breeze to keep us cool on the hot August day!

Cousins. catching up.

Memories.

Spotted Cow beer in a mason jar. How cool!

Natalie and Quinn meeting! They are the two babies in the family.

We had a wonderful time at my cousin, Paul and his fiance {now wife!} Haley's wedding on Saturday, 8/21. I think it was one of the most beautiful weddings I've been to. It was outdoors at Haley's parents cabin near Minoqua, WI. It was simple. had breathtaking views of the lake. family oriented. perfect. we even had beer/wine in mason jars!
On a side note, Quinn and I took a little walk around the beach area and saw a beaver swimming in the water, then he crawled up to the beach area and dragged a tree branch back in the lake!

Mama's Boy!

I know someday this will change. It might even be someday soon. I will savor it while I can :)
